BIO
Roy Oommen is an award-winning Music Producer, Arranger, Composer, and Mix Engineer with over 3 decades of professional experience in the music industry. As former Team Leader at Silent Stone Music in Toronto ON Canada, his work as a producer and arranger can be heard on recording projects from artists such as the Juno Award-winning gospel group Toronto Mass Choir, singer/songwriter Mark Masri (member of The Tenors, and featured on David Foster's PBS special 'Hitman'), singer/songwriter Kelita (several-time Juno Award and GMA Canada Covenant Award nominee).
As an artist having grown up in the Greater Toronto Area, Roy learned to play the piano at the early age of 4. His music education includes classical training from the Royal Conservatory of Music, as well as jazz education from Humber College, partnered with private instruction in various styles.
Having learned to create music on an old Atari STE computer, a 4-track reel-to-reel player, and a Boss DS-330 synth module, Roy co-produced his first project for a local artist which went on to receive Certified Gold status in the Philippines. His first full album as the sole producer won a Canadian Juno Award, and numerous other awards.
In 2004, Roy began to broaden his creativity into the realm of composing music for motion pictures and television. His first music score for a 4-part TV series, 'Journey To Christmas’, was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for Best Original Music.
